BiogasSA has signed an agency agreement with Sauter Biogas GmbH from Germany and all our future commercial scale digester projects will be commissioned using their unique 'Sprinkled, not stirred' technology.
The Sauter technology eliminates the need to for any internal mixing of the digester contents. No mixing means no mixers and thus reduces the own electricity consumption of the plant by up to 60% and further reduces maintenance costs. As the digester contents are not mixed, it means a much higher dry matter content can be accommodated (up to 30%) and higher biogas yields is actually achieved. Desulfurization can also effectively be achieved inside the digester, further eliminating the cost and maintenance of external desulfurization equipment.
