BiogasSA has supplied, installed and commissioned over 200 small scale digesters all over Southern Africa for households, small farms, community projects and schools.
BiogasSA started with the installation of the patented in-situ cast concrete digester from Puxin in China. The in-situ concrete construction proved superior when compared to the typical fixed dome digester constructed using bricks. The solid concrete digester showed better long term durability compared to the brick digesters which has the tendency to develop cracks in the brick dome, ultimately leading to gas leaks.
BiogasSA also experimented with soft, balloon type digesters for a number of years, but these presented long term operational challenges and were discontinued. In 2021 we started experimenting with the Homebiogas soft digester imported from Israel and it proved to be an excellent product. Unfortunately securing an agreement with the manufacturers in Israel proved to be challenging and we no longer promote this product.
